Advocacy Work in Maternal Healthcare

About Our 5K Event

Therapy Plus, is thrilled to announce our collaboration with Six Dimensions and MomME for our upcoming “Miles for Mamas 5K” event.   This significant event is poised to occur in the heart of downtown Jackson, serving as a celebratory culmination to Black Maternal Health Week 2024! Our event goes beyond just a run – it’s a community wellness initiative aimed at raising awareness about the current state of maternal health in Mississippi. We’re not just talking about it; we’re taking action to support better health outcomes for Black mothers and babies in our state. Mississippi faces significant challenges when it comes to the health of expectant mothers and their babies. Sadly, our state ranks among the highest in the nation for maternal and infant mortality. This is why we’re reaching out to our community, because we believe that, together, we can make a positive change in maternal healthcare right here in Mississippi.

Our main mission for this event is to raise awareness and gather support for organizations that are dedicated to ensuring moms and their babies receive the care they need. We also want to ignite a meaningful conversation about how we, as a community, can unite to protect and support our moms and little ones.

We’re launching the event with an exciting 5K Race/Walk, followed by a special FUN RUN for the kids. It’s not just about the race; it’s about promoting health and wellness and strengthening our community bonds. After the race, we’re hosting a FREE family fun day. Here’s the best part – you don’t have to participate in the race to join in on the fun!

During the event, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with community partners and organizations that advocate for better maternal healthcare. They will be on-site to provide information and resources to help us all understand how we can make a difference.

By working together, we have the power to enhance the well-being of moms and babies right here in Mississippi. We extend our heartfelt thanks for your support and for being a vital part of this important event. Your presence can make a significant impact.
